Description
- Implements and maintains the plant’s labor relations programs and procedures
- Ensures satisfactory labor-management relations and helps interpret collective bargaining agreements
- Leads grievance procedures including arbitrations and assists all levels of management on labor matters
- Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the his/her functional area of responsibility and capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments i.e. legal, compliance, worker’s compensation
- Stay current on Federal, State and case laws changes and monitor labor law updates for changes that affect Human Resources
- Conducts research on union related matters; analyze CBAs to develop interpretation of intent, spirit, and terms of contracts; serve on and represent management in labor contract negotiations.
- Prior experience in unionized environment required
- 2-3 years experience on Industry or other manufacturing setting
- Strong communication and public speaking skills
- PHR or SPHR preferred
- Bilingual skills preferred
- Analytical - ability to synthesize complex or diverse information
- Problem Solving - ability to identify and resolve problems in a manner; ability to skillfully gather and analyze information
- Oral Communication - ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; ability to demonstrate group presentation skills
- Delegation - ability to delegate work assignments, give authority to work independently, set expectations and monitor delegated activities
- Leadership - ability to inspire and motivate others to perform well, accepts feedback from others
- Management Skills - ability to include staff in planning, decision making and process improvement. Makes self-available to staff, provides regular performance feedback and develops subordinates' skills and encourages growth
- Judgment - ability to display willingness to make timely decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgment
- Planning/Organizing - ability to prioritize and plan work activities; use time effectively and develop realistic action plans
